Charles R. Helms practices commercial real estate, corporate and business transactions law. His practice includes the representation of private companies and family businesses and the purchase, sale, development, financing and leasing of commercial real property.
From 2002 until co-founding Pesek & Helms, LLP, Chuck was the principal of Charles R. Helms, P.C., where he practiced commercial real estate, corporate and business transactions law. Prior to his four years in solo practice, Chuck served for two years as General Counsel and Secretary of Gnubi Communications, Inc., an Addison-based, "high-tech" telecom holding company with operating subsidiaries in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Prior to joining Gnubi, Chuck was a transactional partner at Scheef & Stone, L.L.P., a Dallas, Texas law firm. His experience there included general corporate representation, commercial real estate, employment matters and the representation of borrowers and lenders.
Chuck received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992, where he was an editor of the Texas Law Review. In addition, he holds an A.B. degree from Princeton University (1980), an M.A. from the University of Dallas (1985) and a D.Phil. from Oxford University, England (1992). Chuck reads legal documents in Spanish, French and Italian.
Chuck is a member of the State Bar of Texas. He is the author of approximately two dozen articles and legal publications, including legal publications in commercial real estate, employment and environmental law. He is a current Director and a past President of the St. Thomas More Society, the guild for Catholic attorneys in greater Dallas.
